LIQUIDATION SERVICES

MMC can provide each potential customer with details about the machinery, develop dismantling, reconditioning and transportation quotations (both trucking and container quotes), dismantle the machinery, rebuild the machinery and arrange final shipment. Our scope of service is designed to simplify and shorten the sales cycle and maximize the sales price of the machinery. Our approach is outlined below:

  • Appraisal and Consulting Services – MMC will works with clients to better understand market conditions, how they impact pricing and to develop strategies to maximize returns. MMC develops a comprehensive list of major components to be sold and develops pricing for individual machines, machinery centers and the complete mill.
  • Removal and Dismantling – MMC has extensive experience in removing and transporting machinery used in the forest products industry. We have moved plants across the world or literally next-door. No one in the industry has dismantled and moved more mill machinery than MMC.
  • Rebuilding Used Machinery – MMC’s staff of lead professionals has over 190 years of combined experience in rebuilding machinery used in the forest products industry. Our list of customers include Georgia Pacific, International Paper, and Roseburg Forest Products domestically and Boral Hancock (Australia), Urupanel (Uruguay) and Forestal Alpha (Mexico) internationally, to name a few.

Past Liquidations – Our staff has been involved in the successful liquidation of individual machines to complete plants. Our Staff has liquidated the following mills:

  • Stimson Lumber Company, Bonner, Montana. Liquidation currently in process. To date, sales have exceeded the estimated high-end auction value by 50 percent.
  • Kogap Plywood Mill, Medford, Oregon. Major components sold include, Lay-up Line, three Hot Presses, Saw and Sanding Lines, Baghouses, Boilers and all other related mill equipment.
  • Temple Inland Veneer and Plywood Mill, Pineland, Texas. Major components sold include, Two Coe Veneer Lathes with Chargers, Lay-up Line, three 40 opening Presses, three Coe Jet Dryers, Saw and Sanding Lines and other related equipment.
  • Collins Pine Veneer and Plywood Mill, Klamath Falls, Oregon. Major components sold include Lathe Charger, two Hot Presses, Veneer Composer, Saw Line, Glue Spreaders and other related equipment.
  • Panel Products Veneer Mill, Rogue River, Oregon. Complete Lathe Line with log processing through the green stacker.
  • Plum Creek Veneer and Plywood Mill, Winfield, Louisiana. Sold the complete Lathe Line and Plywood Mill.

Our fees are based on what we sell. There are no up front charges - MMC absorbs all marketing costs. Our commission percentage is based on the machinery being sold.

Mill Machinery's Custom Line of Magnum Machinery

Mill Machinery offers custom engineered solutions to fit our customer’s specific machinery needs. Our Magnum Line of Machinery includes: panel feeding, stacking, and conveying as well as hot press equipment: chargers, pie racks, direct loading, unloader/stackers, hydraulic hoist systems, platens, ladders and hangers. Mill Machinery’s Magnum lines are designed using heavy structural steel tubing to resist impact and wear for years of low cost service. Low maintenance operation is assured using proven rugged, off the shelf components for reliability and ease of replacement. The Magnum line of machinery redefines the industry standard for speed, durability and ease of maintenance.

Magnum Panel handling line features:

  • 7" x 7" Tubing with 1/4" to 3/8" thick walls
  • Drop arms - 1/2" frame steel with gusseted double plates
  • Panel stops - 1/2" plate utilizing tubular construction and Dead Blow panel cushioning material
  • Chain hoist construction for speed and durability
  • Pumps, cylinders, valves and bearings are customized to mill specifications
  • Plenum style vacuum feeders utilizing Twin City Fans feeding panels at a rate of 40 per minute

Magnum Press line equipment features:

  • Press platens to fit 4 x 8, 4 x 10, or 5 x 10 presses
  • Platens have a RA of .08 or better and are pressure tested to 2500 psi
  • Ladders and hangers
  • Direct loaders available with fixed or moveable feed head
  • Single panel ejector system
  • 6,000 lb x lift with roll case top mounted in the basket
  • Chargers available in roll-a-head or declining configuration
  • Hydraulically operated with hydraulic valves and controls
  • Trays are lined on the bottom with micarta wear strips and use brass pusher bars on the front of the trays to protect the platen surfaces

  • Unloader/stackers are designed to attach to a hydraulic hoist system
  • Panels are pulled into the stacker by a pinch roll and the sides and backs are squared as each panel is received
  • A hydraulic hoist is used to lower the accumulated panel stack that is then discharged via gravity roll case at the end of the cycle
  • Hydraulic hoist systems built for front and back side of press
  • 10" columns and framework around the press
  • Dual trunion mounted hoist cylinders with indexing manifolds

Tim Peterson – President

Tim began his career with Panel Equipment Sales (PES) working on the steam dock cleaning and painting machinery. Tim quickly moved into the dismantling and shipping department where he managed and worked on such projects as the Kogap liquidation, Weyerhaeuser’s MDF mill located in Broken Bow, Oklahoma that was dismantled and shipped 8 miles down the road and many other large dismantling projects. In 1997, Tim became shop Forman at PES, overseeing all rebuilding of used machinery and the construction and design of the Magnum line of panel machinery. In 1998, Tim was moved into the Sales office at PES, becoming the Southern Sales Manager. Within 2 years Tim became PES’s top salesman. In 2002, Tim joined Spar-Tek industries before moving to Mill Machinery as President in 2003.

Bobby Cowan – Sales and Marketing Manager

Bobby received his BS in Business Marketing from the University of Idaho in 2012, where he was an All American punter on the football team. Following his graduation, he pursued an NFL punting career from 2012-2015. After his NFL career, in July of 2015, he began work in the foodservice industry for Acosta Sales and Marketing in Tempe, AZ. He quickly learned the business and became one of their top salesman. Bobby comes to Mill Machinery with a desire to learn the forest products industry and provide the best customer service possible.

David Cowan

Dave is a Graduate of the University of Idaho with a BS in Business Administration. Dave joined Panel Equipment Sales in 1996 as the Chief Operating Officer, becoming President in 1999. In 2002, Dave started Mill Machinery LLC. MMC has grown from one small 1,000 square foot warehouse to encompass over 10,000 square feet of shop space and over 50,000 square feet of warehouse capacity in three states.
